What is a banner or creative?
These are the ads you see that appear on many Web sites. Ad networks
typically place them, and not the site that you are visiting. Clicking
on a banner ad will redirect you to another site where you can learn more
about the product or service being advertised.
What is BuddyBanking or BuddyBank?
BuddyBanking is a way for LinkBuddies members to make money from showing
banners on their Web site.
Each LinkBuddies member gets an exchange rate according to the click
through rate of the banners show on your Web site. For example, your exchange
rate may be 4: 3. – meaning, for every 4 banners you display on
your Web site, LinkBuddies will display your banners 3 times ( 3 banner
credits ) on someone else’s Web sites.
With BuddyBanking, you can sell back to LinkBuddies some percentage of
those earned banner credits. That is, instead of having LinkBuddies shows
your banner on someone else's Web site one time, you can sell back that
unused banner credit to us.
What is a BuddyBank Balance?
Under the Balance tab of the BuddyBank section, you will see your BuddyBank
Balance, which shows
1. The number of impressions we've purchased from you and at what price.
2. The current BuddyBank balance you have at the time.
3. The next payment processing date. (The next time that we will send
you payment. )
Please note that LinkBuddies will only process your payment once you
have a balance of $50 or more.
You need to set up your BuddyBank setting to activate your BuddyBank
Balance. LinkBuddies runs its BuddyBanker once a day, and may not run
it every day. Based on the day's rate, the BuddyBanker will grab whatever
percent of your credits you've chosen to sell (your BuddyBank Setting)
-- out of the credits you earned that day.
—How does LinkBuddies calculate my BuddyBank Balance?
Example:
On a particular day,
1. You show 15,000 banners.
2. Your current ratio is 2:1 (This ratio is displayed under ‘Overview’
tab under ‘Report section)
2. LinkBuddies runs BuddyBanker.
3. Your BuddyBank setting is 75% meaning you're selling 75% of your credits.
4. BuddyBank rate is 25 cent per thousand of impressions. (CPM)
Give the above example, BuddyBanker will buy 5625 credits from you. Why?
You earned 7500 banner credits by showing 15,000 banners on your site.
Your BuddyBanking is set to sell 75% of those credits 7500*.75=5625 and
BuddyBank rate is 25 cent CPM. Therefore,
Your Buddy Bank Balance will be: $1.40
As you can see, the BuddyBanker only buys back banner credits you earned
from within the past 24 hours. If you have accumulated lots of banner
credits in the past, you can transfer those into the BuddyBank as well.
This can be achieved from the ‘Transfer’ section under BuddyBank.
This feature gives you the ability to instantly exchange some of your
accumulated credits for cash, even if the BuddyBanker isn't running that
day.
The Transfer rate is usually less than the standard BuddyBanking rate
(in terms of price per thousand impressions or CPM), since you can transfer
on a day that LinkBuddies chooses not to run the BuddyBanker.
The credits that you have available to transfer isequal to the number
of guaranteed impressions you have minus the number of impressions already
delivered to your account. Once you hit the ‘Transfer’ button,
your accumulated credits will be converted into your ‘BuddyBank
Balance’ and will be displayed on the ‘Balance’ tab.
What is a BuddyBank Rate?
BuddyBank Rate is LinkBuddies’ purchase rate and setting on that
particular day.
Please note that LinkBuddies reserves the right to determine the amount
of percentage we like to buy banner impressions back from our users. This
way, LinkBuddies limits our liability to buy according to our inventory
demand. During our launch period, LinkBuddies’ purchase setting
has always been 100%.
What are BuddyBank settings?
You choose what percentage of your earned banner credits you'd like to
sell. If you choose to sell 100% of your credits, your banner will never
be shown on another LinkBuddies member site; you'll redeem every earned
banner credit for cash. On the other hand, if you choose to sell 0%, you'll
participate in the exchange as "normal," without redeeming any
credits for money.
With BuddyBanking, you have the choice to set your BuddyBank as follow:
0%/100%— I don't wish to sell back any banner
credits. I'm interested in taking full advantage of the Banner Exchange
program, and getting my banner shown on other network sites as much as
possible.
25%/75% —I'd like my banner shown frequently on
other member sites, and I'd be happy to make a little money on the side
by selling a quarter of my credits back.
50%/50% —I'll keep half of my banner credits to
make sure my ad is getting shown, but sell half my credits back to earn
some extra cash.
75%/25%— I'd like to make money by selling the
majority of my banner credits back. I'll hold onto a few of my credits
to keep some banner exchange traffic headed my way.
100%/0% I'm showing banners on my site to make money. I don't need to
keep any of my earned credits -- I'd rather earn cash instead.
What is Buddy Credits?
Buddy Credits refers to the LinkBuddies Referral System, which means
the more people you refer to LinkBuddies who become members, the more
banner credits or Buddy Credits you will accumulate. Buddy Credits System
works by simply pasting our HTML referral code, your banner will display
a special link back to Linkbuddies.com, in addition to the banner image
itself. If a web surfer clicks on your LinkBuddies® link and join
LinkBuddies. You will instantaneously earn a new referral -- and you will
receive that 20% of that member credits for life.
What is the Banner Creator?
Our Banner Creator allows you to create a banner that will link to your
Web site. We will distribute that banner over our banner exchange network
while you display our banners on your Web site. We provide you with five
banners that have proven effectiveness. Simply click on the banner, enter
your information into the fields provided, and save the banner to your
account. Once a member of our staff approves the banner, it will begin
receiving impressions within 24 hours.

What is a click?
In Web advertising, a click is an instance of a user pressing down (clicking)
on a mouse button in an ad space. The term click through is also sometimes
used. The click rate is the number of clicks on an ad as a percentage
of the number of times that the ad was downloaded with a page.
What is a click through?
In banner advertising on a Web site, the click through rate is the percentage
of times that a viewer of a Web page clicks on a given banner ad, causing
a request for the advertiser's Web site to be transmitted to the viewer.
For example, if two out of every 100 visitors to a Web page clicked on
a given ad, that ad would be said to have a 2% click through rate. (In
most cases, a 2% click through rate would be considered very successful,
by the way. In many campaigns, especially as ads become familiar to users,
the click through rate is well below 1%.
What does "family safe" mean?
In order to maintain a family-safe environment, our banner exchange has
fairly stringent guidelines about the content of the site your banners
link to. We regret that the following types of site content are not suitable
for LinkBuddies: adult or pornographic material, online casinos/gaming,
dating services, or illegal software or "warez" sites. Our banner
approval staff will review and may reject banners submitted based upon
these guidelines.

What is an impression?

What is an Impression Manager?
Under the ‘Report’ tab, Impression Manager is a useful feature
for members who have multiple accounts. Impression Manager allows you
to transfer your banner impressions from one account to another, giving
you more flexibility in managing your overall banner impressions.
What is a StatsBuddy?
StatsBuddy refers to a stats tracking system developed by LinkBuddies.
For members who have more than one account, you need to activate StatsBuddy
for each account. Once you turn on the StatsBuddy, LinkBuddies will gather
all sorts of statistics based on your Web site traffic -- every time a
banner is shown on your site.
Using your existing banner code, StatsBuddy will track page loads, unique
visitors, geographic regions, visit lengths, and a variety of other information
as well.
To activate StatsBuddy, you will be asked to fill in a main URL for that
account and to choose a Time Zone.
What is a Surfer Trails?
Surfer Trails is an add-ons feature exclusively for LinkBuddies Premium
members. For each StatsBuddy account, Surfer Trails will show you a report
of what Web pages’ paths surfers are taking within your Web site.
Surfer Trails reports will display the Web pages’ paths and the
number of times those paths have been viewed.
What is the "Upload Banner" tab for?
If you have created a banner using either a free banner creator service,
or with your own software, you can upload that banner into your account
to link it to your Web site. The banner will be distributed over our banner
exchange network within 24 hours of being approved by a member of our
staff.
