expectations for online advertising banners, pop-ups, multimedia ads, and such
came crashing down after the dot-com bust. But last year, the industry began digging
out of the rubble and showing signs that it had staying power.
In 2003, U.S. online ad revenue totaled $7.2 billion, up 20 percent from $6
billion in 2002, according to a report released last week by the Interactive
Advertising Bureau, and industry group.
Online-ad revenue peaked at $8.1 billions in 2000.
